the moment of birth through age 18 years. Care is provided for preventative care
(check-ups) asthma, allergies, ear infections, coughs, behavioral issues, developmental
problems, and many other childhood problems. The entire staff understands the
daily challenges of life as a parent, especially as a parent of a sick child, and will
work with you to meet the health care needs of your child on a complete and timely basis.
Our practice policy is that if your child is acutely ill and needs to be seen, we
will make every effort to see your child that same day. |

| Office Hours - Telephone Monday through Thursday:
7:45 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Weekends and Holidays: Call office before 8:00 for appointment time (see below) Telephone 607-432-5600 Office Address: Ste. 213, One FoxCare Drive, Oneonta NY 13820 Office Manager: Marlene Heath Note: It is not the policy of this practice to treat illness over the telephone. If you're child is ill, we would like you to make an appointment so that we may evaluate your problem properly. |
| Appointments Patients are seen by appointment only. Please call 607-432-5600 to schedule an appointment. Routine checkups can be scheduled up to six months in advance. Well Child Care It is important for your pediatrician to track your child's development and milestones, check blood levels, and administer vaccinations. Infants are seen at 2 weeks, and at 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months. An annual well child exam is recommended thereafter. Well child appointments should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance to schedule the time and provider of their preference. During your Well Child visit, we are happy to answer questions regarding nutrition, behavior, or other children's health issues. First time patients should bring or arrange in advance to have their child's records and immunizations records on hand for their first visit. Sick Appointments It is our goal to have a sick child seen on a same day basis. Please call as soon as possible once you discover your child is ill-preferably in the morning if you know your child will need an appointment. Our telephone nurse will assist you in making the decision for an appointment using guidelines established by our doctors. If the nurse is unavailable, one of our staff will take a detailed message from you. We will make every effort to return your call within 30-60 minutes. Please try to keep your line open, and keep in mind that Monday morning is the busiest time in our office. Due to our same day sick policy, it is NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE to see the provider of your choice on a same day sick visit. In order to accommodate the number of sick patients efficiently, the first available provider will see your child. This provides efficient scheduling, faster patient flow (thus decreasing exposure to other illness in the office), and gives other practitioners the opportunity to become familiar with you and your child's medical history and needs. Note for Working Parents We have appointments as early as 7:45 every morning for sick children. If your child becomes sick during the day when you are at work, be sure your daycare knows to alert you as soon as possible, preferably before 3:00 p.m.. For such cases, parents should have a plan in place for scheduling and bringing the child in for a sick visit on the same day. Your caregiver may bring your child in for treatment with your written permission.. |
| Cancellations/ Missed Appointments We discourage missed or no-show appointments. Please contact our office as soon as possible if you are unable to come to an appointment. If your child was sick and now needed a recheck, and you do not show or call, you will be contact by our office by mail and by phone to reschedule. Patients who repeatedly no-show make it difficult to schedule other patients who need care, and their cases will be reviewed by the physicians personally. |
| After Hours/ Weekends Our physicians are available be telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for patients who are seen by the practice. (Sorry, we cannot handle calls from other patients.) Please call our office number, 607-432-5600, and the answering service will take a message and the physician on call will call you back. Appointments are available Saturday, Sunday and Holiday mornings for acutely ill children who are regular patients. Please call before 8:00 a.m. if you know your child is sick so that we can see him or her that morning. Calls received in the late morning and afternoon on weekends and holidays will be reviewed and referred to the emergency room or put on for the next day's appointments if the patient needs to be seen. |
| Prescriptions and Refills Just as we cannot treat an illness over the telephone, we cannot prescribe medications over the telephone. Long term medications refills will be handled during regular office hours and ONLY if you are under our care and have been seen in the last 6 months. If you need long term medication refills, have the name and/or Rx number of the medication, the pharmacy name, and the dosage available when you call. It is most important to call for refills early in the day, so that we may have ample time to handle your request. NO ROUTINE PRESCRIPTIONS WILL BE HANDLED AFTER REGULAR OFFICE HOURS OR ON A WEEKEND. |
